Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise him all creatures here below
Praise him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost -Thomas Ken 1674
Praise God…
What is praise? It’s that inner exalted feeling that occurs when gratitude bursts into ecstasy, such as occurs the moment after being rescued from a disaster or narrowly escaping an accident. We experience an overwhelming, emotional surge of relief; feeling shaky, our knees become weak, which possibly is the cause of what the Bible calls, “falling to our knees”. Pause for a moment and remember how that feels.
…from whom all blessings flow.
Let’s think about blessing. If we think about it as the opposite of a curse, which causes bad things to happen, then a blessing causes good things to happen. Words, for example, can be a blessing or a curse. They can build up, or tear down. Words that bless, and words that curse, can affect us for the rest of our lives.
Close your eyes and contemplate all the blessings you have in your life, such as wisdom, love, respect, humility, knowledge, appreciation of beauty, recognition, etc.
As I let the images and emotions related to these wonderful things flow past, I feel the weight of worry lift, peacefulness, and joy fill my heart. I relax and rest in the Lord …from whom all blessings flow.
As water flows in a river, so the blessings of God flow to us, continuously offered, never ending. Contemplate for a moment, this incredible reality! God blesses us with opportunities, challenges that cause us to grow, people who enrich our lives, talents, interests and abilities.
So, Praise God, from whom all blessings flow.
Praise him all creatures here below. God, who is above us in every way, blesses the Earth below with sunlight, air, and water which life depends on.
